The Vanity Project

The Filipino Village Project is a model making project that focuses on traditional and indigenous houses of the Philippines from north to south. The idea comes from when I first saw a Christmas Village on tv years ago, and that's actually a thing. Why not Filipino houses then? Just last year, or probably 2018, I saw Mr. Boboy Yonzon posted on Facebook, a Filipino Christmas Village and that's a welcome sight! But I'm not interested in Christmas. I'm more interested in history and the diversity of Filipino cultures that produced a wide variety of houses across regions and indigenous peoples. I want to make scale models of houses that actually exist or existed. And if there are documentations of those houses, that would be make it more awesome! Architectural heritage preservation is really of great interest to me, so why not focus on that? At least, on a small scale.

This is a project I wanted to do for a long time. There's no reason for it other than I'd like the process of doing scale models. I will pay for it because I want to do whatever I want to do with it. I don't even know where I'd put the entire thing once I'm done. All I know is I want to work on it and I'll do it in my own time. It might take quite a long time to finish, which I seriously hope I'd be able to. This will take research, and I may need the resources at National Historical Commission of the Philippines someday. I hope to finish this before I'm qualified to get my senior discounts.

This blog is created to document my progress.
